16 weeks bump update!

So I’m now 16 weeks pregnant. Everyone keeps saying how fast it’s going but honestly I feel like I’ve been pregnant far longer! I think it’s a mixture of finding out when I was 1 week pregnant and having quite a difficult pregnancy already.

On Tuesday I got a call from my midwife saying my early GTT (glucose tolerance test) came back abnormal which means I have gestational diabetes again 🙁 I am totally gutted! It’s not the nicest thing to have to go through, it stresses me out so much last time. I think I will be a bit calmer this time as I know more but it’s still not nice.

Anyway I had an appointment on Thursday with the diabetic team and they gave me a pack to prick my finger and explained about readings and diet (it was faster than with Harry because I did already know a lot and it’s all the same) so now I’m having to prick my finger and check my sugar levels 4 times a day. Before breakfast, one hour after breakfast, one hour after lunch and one hour after dinner. So far they’re up and down.

I am booked in to see them again on Wednesday. If I can’t keep my readings down with diet alone then I will have to take pills (I did with Harry) and if they don’t work it will be injections (terrified me last time and is again)

In other news I’m not feeling too bad. No sickness, my appetite has picked up and I’m sleeping ok. I am still really tired but I have had a busy week and lots of late nights so it is expected.

I have been getting some twinges but only what’s normal.

My back has been hurting a lot this week though. So much so that it hurts when my OH tries to rub it for me, he’s has to be really gentle.

I was starting to get really concerned because I’m 16 weeks and haven’t felt baby kick (I felt Harry from 12 weeks) but I felt a kick that made me jump yesterday so that’s made me feel more at ease.

The heartburn had eased loads and I’d not felt it all week until last night, I’m hoping it’s a one off.

A few people have mentioned that I look bigger this week. Surely it needs to slow down soon because at this rate I won’t be able to walk towards the end of my pregnancy, im already massive!

Are you pregnant? How far along? I love reading your experiences 🙂

    You’ll be fine! xx

  2. So sorry to hear that you have gestational diabetes again – hope you manage to get your sugar levels under control without needing to have injections. Glad that you have started getting some kicks now too! 🙂

  3. Oh how exciting, you look lovely.
I’m sorry about the GTT that is hard I know a couple of people that went through it in pregnancy and it does make it tough, I hope you can manage it on diet alone this time as that will be much easier. xx
