The simple and characterful Barbecue Party action game is a terrific mix of anticipation and nerve as the younger members of the family test their dexterity, doing their best to oh-so-carefully place different foods on the BBQ grill.
The aim of the game is to pick a card which will tell you to either choose a smiley chicken drum stick, fish, cob of corn, tomato, mushroom, red pepper or broccoli spear. Then using either their hands or the tongs, they carefully try to put that item on the grill, or if it’s all already there, they take that item off the grill and they win that card.
Sounds easy? Maybe… but when the grill is inadvertently shaken or the load gets too heavy under the weight of all that food, the rack dramatically catapults everything off into the air and the player forfeits a card. The first person to collect three or four (depending on age) different cards wins the game and is crowned the official Master Chef!
This game is recommended for children 4+ so I was concerned that harry (3) wouldn’t really enjoy it. I will admit, he doesn’t completely understand the rules but he does like picking a card and putting the item on (he says ooh careful, don’t make it pop) and then will giggle if someone makes it pop 🙂
Even the teenagers and adults have enjoyed playing it.
This game has definitely got a thumbs up from us and if I had been shown this game before trying it out myself, I definitely would be buying it for Harry for Christmas. I can see it becoming a favourite of ours to play.
Harry only received it today and played it almost all day, right up until bedtime when he had a meltdown because he didn’t want to stop playing. We’ve had to say we will keep it where it is, ready for the morning 🙂
Barbecue Party is recommended for children age 4+ and is £19.99.
