My 1940’s Wedding

When I talk about my upcoming wedding (April 6th 2020) I always say the theme is 1940’s. It’s not fully 1940’s because they didn’t have a lot and some things they did have, I’m not a fan of. I suppose you could say my theme is vintage or rustic too. Anyway the things I think make it 1940’s are;

My shoes

They are white with lace and a 1940’s style.

The invites

They are a telegram style which fits in with that time

The Favours

We’re having little brown bags with sweets that were available in the 1940’s inside

The two adult bridesmaids, their dresses were purchased from Joanie Clothing which sells vintage style clothing.

The food

We’re not having anything fancy, just a carvery followed by scones, jam and cream. And then a finger buffet in the evening.

The decorations

Lots and lots of bunting, some paper chains and the tables will have cola bottles (in memory of my dad) with gypsophila in.

I’m getting so excited now! So you see, not 100% 1940’s but close to. Just under 11 weeks to go 😀

  1. I love that you have a theme for your wedding, I get married in 17 days and my wedding is just a mish mash of stuff I liked lol x

  2. It sounds amazing hun. Ours was very vintage too. No exact timeframe but we got married in a Jacobean Manor House so lots of lace & hessian, my makeup was very 40s style though with my red lipstick. I hope you have the best day xxx
