Dough Nab Game Review

Do you love doughnuts? I know silly question, I don’t know anyone that doesn’t love a good doughnut. Well I’ve found something that’s even better (well maybe second best, nothing beats food) and that is this this fun Dough Nab game from Ginger Fox Uk.

Firstly I have to be honest and say it took us a couple of reads of the instructions to understand the game but that could just be us being thick.

But when we started to play, we soon picked it up and it was actually really fun! Our competitive sides soon crept out.

It’s a berserk bakery-themed blitz in which you’ll need to keep a keen eye on the cards and race to grab the corresponding doughnut if you see a match.

With action cards to shake up play and a stylish head baker’s hat for the winner, this freshly-baked family game comes in tempting doughnut-box style packaging.

Simply see it, match it, nab it!

Contents: 60 cards, 3 doughnut playing pieces, turn tracker, head baker winner’s hat, rules. From ages 8+.

I can see this being a popular game this Christmas.

Sock Shop Review

It’s nearly autumn and it’s just starting to get a little cooler in the evenings so that only means one thing…..cosy socks! I love nothing more than some cosy socks and snuggling on the sofa with a good film or book.

Recently Sock Shop got in touch asking if we would like to sample some of their gorgeous socks and of course I would say yes (have you seen my overflowing sock draw) I LOVE a good pair of socks! And sock shop have the loveliest socks and such a great selection, there is literally a sock for everyone!

We were sent a few from their bamboo range. They are the softest socks I’ve ever felt and the colours are beautiful!

They also have some character socks which were also kindly sent. Marvel for the boys and Harry Potter for me. I love them!

Such shop offer

  • More than 70 brands in their huge online store
  • Round-the-clock service from their historic Bolton mill
  • They deliver to over 240 countries worldwide

Now that is impressive! They have been running since 1983 (a year after I was born) so they know their stuff!

What’s your favourite pair from the site?

My favourite autumn/winter clothes for women from Matalan

Before I start I am going to say this is not a sponsored post (I wish) I just always like loads in Matalan every year this time of year. I’m not a huge fan of their summer items but that’s maybe because I’m not a summer fan but they always have some gorgeous items in around autumn/winter so I thought this year I would share my favourites with you.

Aren’t they just lovely? I like so many more items too but can only add so many here so has to pick my favourites. What’s your favourite item?

Days out in the midlands this October

I love a good day out with the kids but especially in the autumn. I find it’s not as busy or hot (which can make everyone a little grumpy) I have a list of places we love visiting and I thought why not share them with you in case you’re struggling for something to do. All these days out I think are reasonably priced because we all need low cost days out this close to Christmas.

I’ve chosen days out in the midlands as that where I live so have either heard good things, or been myself.

Gruffalo Orienteering

There are lots of places that do this up and down the country but I have linked the one we went to. Car parking was around £4 and the Gruffalo map was £1.50 and we spent hours there. L

Zog Trail

This is also in lots of places up and down the country. The trail is £3 per kit and parking charge is around £4 again.

Mini Meadows Farm

This is a lovely day out, I recently went with Jack and his preschool. They have lots of animals to feed, pet and cuddle, a great outdoor and indoor play area and a cafe and only £5 per person.

Ryton Pools Country Park

I recently visited this place with Jack for a birthday party and it was so much fun! So many things to do. I will definitely be visiting again with the whole family soon.

Hatton Adventure World

Now we’ve never actually been here but we’ve always wanted to as we’ve only heard good things. Hopefully we can this half term.

St Nicholas Park

We’ve been here many times because there is something to do no matter your budget. We’ve been when we’ve had money and we’ve been low on funds and each time has been fun.

Anne Hathaways Cottage

Again it’s another place I haven’t visited yet but really want to. It’s something I am really interested in. Also I like places that give the kids some culture. Will definitely visit soon. You can actually buy tickets to just this one place or buy tickets that are for Anne Hathaways Cottage plus

  • Shakespeare’s birthplace
  • Mary Arden’s Farm
  • Shakespeare’s New Place
  • Hall’s Croft

Which is excellent value for money. I think I’d like to do this option.

Dudley Zoo

This is somewhere we have been before and I think it’s one of the best zoo’s we’ve been to. They have added more items since we’ve been so we’re looking forward to seeing them soon.

Do you have any favourite days out in the midlands? I would love to add some more days out to our to see list.

Autumn Bucket list

I love autumn, it is my favourite season by far. I love the cosy clothes (tights, jumpers and cardigans here I come) , the warming foods (my favourite is stew, the colours (everywhere just looks so beautiful) and of course Halloween and bonfire night. And I love a good bucket list so why not combine the two together? So here we go 🙂

  • Go pumpkin picking (this may just be in a supermarket)
  • Carve a pumpkin
  • Have a cosy family film night (with popcorn)
  • Go on an autumn nature walk
  • Collect conkers
  • Make hot chocolate with marshmallows
  • Go blackberry picking
  • Bake a pie (maybe banoffee)
  • Watch Hocus Pocus
  • Watch The Witches
  • Light some sparklers
  • Take some family outdoor photos
  • Do some autumn crafts
  • Go puddle jumping
  • Dress up for Halloween
  • Make cookies
  • Have a Harry Potter Film Marathon
  • Decorate the house for Halloween

That’s all I can think of at the moment and obviously I can’t add too much because I wouldn’t be able to achieve it. I think this seems achievable. Is there anything you would add? What is your favourite season?

My New Kitchen

When we moved into this house just over two years ago the house was an absolute state and needed decorating badly (check out these post and this post) but the kitchen was actually not that bad, not to our taste but loveable so it was last on our list. We’ve now made everywhere else almost as we want it so we decided in the 6 weeks holiday to do it up. We’ve kept the units because they were quite new when we moved in so no need to waste money we haven’t got.

The before photos are when when we cleaned out the pantry and cupboards because that’s when I remembered I needed before photos.

So we painted the pantry and changed around the shelves slightly. Added new tiles, new worktop (and more of it) a new cooker and hob and a dishwasher. We also added a new tap in the sink.

I love it so much! I want to bake all of the food now 🙂

Zuru Smashers Dino Epic Egg Review

We were recently asked if we would like to review Zuru Smashers Dino Egg and as Harry LOVES a collectible I jumped at the chance! Harry was so excited when he saw it, to be honest so was I, the egg is huge!

He couldn’t wait to get stuck in! And Smash open the giant egg.

Inside was a bag jam packed full of goodies!

One thing I love is how long the items in the egg have taken Harry to play with. For the price I would have been unimpressed if he had had enough after 5 mins but we’ve had it a couple of weeks and he still has a couple of them still to do. The eggs were opened instantly. Even Jack (3) enjoyed that part and the 18 year old haha

We were really lucky and only had one or two doubles

The next day Harry opened the glowing slime. Obviously he loved it. We were expecting some more little collectibles but dinosaur bones were inside. We soon discovered that you have to open all the larger packs from the egg to uncover all the bones to make the dinosaur which is really cool.

We were really impressed with these Smashers and I can see us getting more for Christmas. Definitely worth the price. They’re currently on offer in Smyths at the moment so get in quick.

*We were sent these items in exchange for an honest review. All words and opinions are my own.

Our 6 Weeks break in Photos

What a 6 weeks that was! I normally completely dread the holidays but this year I actually enjoyed them. I could have done without the last week and a half (we’ve all had enough by then) but on the whole it was lovely.

Drayton manor x2, Cadbury world, London, Shreks Adventure, a few birthday parties, meals out, baking, lots of parks and days in the garden.

Did you have a good summer holiday? What was your highlight?
